We walked from Uji to Wazukaquietly, against the new tencha.

Four days on foot through Kyoto's stone-shaded valley. Stone mills turning at forty rotations per minute, an entire town that pauses in the second week of May to pluck. We brought a notebook and a thermometer and asked nothing of anyone we met.
